Thank you. Shot was taken at dusk. Sun had just set over the horizon 20 minutes earlier. |

Took a road trip a couple weeks ago through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Utah and Nevada. 3650-mile round trip and only about 150-miles on an interstate. Saw a ton of back roads and found a few OTBP trails to explore.
Nice view of the mountains in Kansas.
Eastern Colorado somewhere.
Near Page, AZ
Northern, AZ somewhere
Near Kanab, Utah
Just outside of Las Vegas

Looks like you washed your bus before every shot. Could be calendar art. |

Really Roy, I want one of those 2015 calendars for my basement workbench! Each month a new shot from somewhere on your adventure. I'll humbly suggest this one from your Missouri backyard visit to see the DC:
or:
That Deluxe is an amazing Transporter, and it was so cool to see you out roadtrippin' in it last month. You should post up one of those maps showing the backroad route you took roundtrip... It was great to see you!
By the way, I'll see you at your house in Mesa tomorrow evening for the Jerome Jamboree festivities with Shawn. I'm hitchin' a ride on the flight attendant jumpseat on a nonstop US Airways flight in the morning. Get that Raffle Bus ready for my ass!

Thanks y'all. Well...I was on the road for 11 days and washed it 3 times as I drove through rain a couple different days plus every morning I washed the bugs off the nose from driving the night before. So yes, I did keep it pretty clean. I must admit that a couple of the pictures were taken not far from pavement...only drove about 15-miles on actual un-paved roads but most of my trip was on 2-lane blacktop. Looking forward to seeing you guys tomorrow and the raffle bus is awaiting its pilot for the weekend...hope one of you get to drive it home!
Hummm...calendar art...you guys just gave me a great idea for Christmas cards this year
This one is my favorite:

I know it's an old post, but what are the tire specs on this bus? |

This is a gorgeous photo. Kudos to you for enjoying your bus by taking it out and using it the way it was meant to be used. I'm sure that very few nice 21 window bus owners drive their bus's more than a few miles a month. These threads also demonstrate that these old VW's can be very reliable when they are brought back up to 100% mechanical condition as well.
Thanks for sharing your photos! _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Yes. General grabbers. 205/75/15. Great tire both on the highway and off road. Handle well in snow too. _________________ and take the kids for instance "Are we going in the Volkswagen bus?" and they say "Yay!" and clap their hands and if it's a glorious day you can slide the sunroof back and let a little of the glory in and all of a sudden, it stops looking funny.

Thanks for that. Maybe a dumb question, how could I be sure I wouldn't have clearance issues on my bus with a 205? It has 155s now from PO and there's not a lot of room in there. '60 panel, stock height. |

if it is a stock height bus then you have enormous amounts of room around your 155 beetle tires.
205 75 15s are likely going to be tight on any bus

My bus is a bone stock 60 also. No clearance problems or rubbing anywhere front or back with the 205s. And that's loaded down with the family and camping gear. _________________ and take the kids for instance "Are we going in the Volkswagen bus?" and they say "Yay!" and clap their hands and if it's a glorious day you can slide the sunroof back and let a little of the glory in and all of a sudden, it stops looking funny.

Thanks G-wood. Can you think of any reason that the 155s would be close to the wheel arch? I have to tilt the top half of tire inboard when I remove tires. Saggy rear? This doesn't seem normal to me if 205s wouldn't rub.
I tried to crop just the rear area to no avail.
I've since put the correct wheels on. |

Are they original 15" bus wheels? The wheels in the picture definitely have a different offset.
This is my 65 single with early bus rims and kumho kl78 205/75R15's on a stock big nut tranny. Different fender lip but spacing between the sidewall and fender should be similar when installed. Might have to deflate a bit to sneak under an early fender.

Yes there are stock bus rims on it now. And I was mistaken, it has 165s on there now. It will work. Found the Grabbers for $92 at discount tire. Thanks for the info fellas |
