I bought a new 74 Beetle when I was a senior.

It's currently parked in my garage.

My 1st car was a bright red 74 standard bug, with a lowered front end & 8 spoke Empi's. It had a 1641cc engine with baby Dellorto carbs, stinger exhaust & I went all out on the Johnny's Speed & Chrome engine kit cause that was the 80's thing to do Dancing Embarassed

My 2nd car was a flat black '76 standard. Swapped the engine & wheels from the 1st car & soon after rebuilt the engine to a 1776cc.

Eventually both cars were stripped & sold for scrap. I've lost count of how many I've owned since. Sorry I can't post photos of them. I graduated HS almost 20 years ago & didn't have a digital camera back then.

1962 pearl white Beetle with red interior. It was 10 years old at the time. Paid $125 for it. Now you can't buy a pair of tires for that much.

My '99 Bora TDI... What? You said VWs only! Razz j/k I'd love to drive a ACVW to school every day, but you try to drive one 55KM (~35 miles) one way to school in -30*C (~-20*F) and then home again! And 50MPG helps too... Wink

I had a '68; it caught fire when I was in college, leaky fuel pump, no money. I sold the carcass and got my '70 in 1972, which I still have, though it's semi-retired. My '71 Conv. arrived in 1976.

A lot of us didn't drive VW's in high school, but I bet I'm the only one here who drove a Studebaker Hawk!

However a few years later I was going to a community collage and drove a light blue 74 Squareback, is that close enough?

1957 ragtop. 10 years old when I bought it. Chrysler took it out and I moved up to a '61 until graduation. That's a bunch of valves set and clutch cables replaced in all those years. Wink

Was thinking the same thing, hell I did'nt even know what a Notchback was or Type 3 for that matter or had even seen one while I went to High School (Indiana). I did'nt see my first Notchback until 89/90 by SDSU and I was 21 by then.

The rest is history! Wink

Back in 88 when I was 15 I picked up a L456 Ruby red 67 that I had found walking home from school. It was an original owner car with all the reciepts and documents. The old couple sold it to me for $500 bucks. I drove it all through highschool and ended up selling it in 1997. I still regret it to this day. Crying or Very sad
