I'm not even arguing the price or the fact that its a solid decent bus. I'm arguing the fact that he's misleading people by saying the BS in the add. Making it out that its lived an easy life etc, a bus that has had an easy life would have had the original seats, armrests and grab handle in it. I bet the motor isn't even the orig. one for the bus. But he claims that it has 6xxxx miles |

That engine isn't close to being correct for a bus, let alone a '71. We can start a list! (Not just counting what's missing, like the heater hoses or air filter.)
-alternator out of a late FI bug
-preheat tubes are 74+ CA bug spec
-EGR port is present and capped off (Never present on a T1 bus)
I also love the chrome pulley nut. Adds 3 horsepower. And the green oil downdraft tube makes it eco-friendly. The coil mounts being broken means at least the engine did NOT have an easy life. _________________ Learn how your vintage VW works. And why it doesn't!

I came here to post about this bus, but I can see there's no outsmarting this crowd
Wasn't even going to comment, just throw the link to the wolves.
The front seats are not wearing original upholstery.
That is TMI "tan".

Who's sending this guy an email to tell him his over-hyped, over-priced sales tactics would be more effective if the bus was a splitty.

I was thinking the same thing. At least they didn't cut it off like most do. A silver lining on the inside of the cloud _________________

next step up from a splitty. Everyone is realizing they can't afford safari windows. Bay prices aren't as outrageous yet but it sure seems like they're on the rise. _________________ '77 Westy 2.0L FI

Please! I think my $500 Bus looks better underneath. What does the engine look like now, after paint?? Non-original non-matching panelling. What is that growth on the middle seat. Carpet in the cab? The list goes on... _________________

When everyone starts to want one, the first casualty is humility. Followed by taste, followed by common sense.
Once a pile of cobbled, half assed crap sells for big money - it sets the trend for a whole new wave of idiots. And s on and so forth. _________________

$35k? Does he think all that chrome will blind people so they don't notice the filthy engine compartment and torn seal?

This stuff is only reflective of the seller's insanity, not new pricing trends. Just my 2 centivos. |
