I have had a few singles of those for sale in recent years at all the usual NW VW shows. Finally sold one for $20 last summer. I gave a couple to friends, and kept a couple for myself. My recent 68 Westy acquisition came with a mis-matched pair of the net kind and the solid bottom kind. I have good reason to believe they are far from rare, nor are they worth $250-plus per pair.

I know - I agree. I see them at nearly every swap to in one shape or form. But 250-325. Dude is setting the new bar!

Wish I could find parcel trays between $20 & free... I need more friends like you guys...
The only ones I see at swaps around here are always at least 100.. Stupid midwest & its lack of buses..

People are always trying to sell these used spare tire mounts for more than new ones, and without and hardware too. Here's one for $25 plus shipping. $18 new at gowesty. Are they catching enough fools buying this stuff, or are they sitting on a giant pile of parts they never move because of the ridiculous price points?

Agreed. Depending upon how he puts the engine together that price may or may not be reasonable.
Generally OR plates bode well.
