I lowered my bug a while back and I'm getting tired of the front end scraping absolutely everything. I've been looking at class 11 cars and Baja style bugs. I have a 1971 super and I was wondering if it's possible to lift it. I'm not gonna do any jumping really just going for the look. Maybe some trail riding and mudding but no jumping. I want to hear your opinions and tell me how easy/hard it would be to lift the car. [/list] _________________ 71 super

Good looking Super!
I'm not sure if you have read the stuff in the HBBOffRoad stickies about Super Beetles and Baja Bugs. While it would probably do all right for your use strength-wise, there is only one relatively EZ or inexpensive means to raise the ride height of a Super's McPherson strut front suspension higher than stock. But I expect you're not going to want to read this.
Sell your current Super Beetle and buy a beam suspension Beetle, Baja or a Class 11 already done. _________________ Richard

Yup. _________________ (o\_i_/o) what you've just said ... is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul - Mr. Oblaski, Principal |

Wanna put a roof rack with a spare, high lift, long boards and more lights.
Thinking of making g some sort of snorkels for the carbs. Maybe a atv winch on the front and back . ..
Still can't believe the clearance I'm getting this thing handles out of this world down sand trails. 3rd gear roostin.

I redid the paint on mine. Originally had white wheels and silver bars but I painted the rims and bars black. Gives it more of a mean look I think! |

Low light yesterday evening and sorry for the nasty look the pollen is horrible here lol. I have the tops mounted through the firewall with future plans to connect a cage inside the cab to it. The lower mounts are on the lower two engine bolts. I have quick disconect pins so I can just take the bumper off the mounts if I need to do any major engine work. |
