I stopped reading HVWs way back when they stopped covering the bikini contests at the car shows. _________________ .

I don't think they stopped covering them so much as the events stopped hosting the bikini contests? I know BOR in Sacramento has had one for several years, I believe in name of making the events more family friendly. |

| The '80s had good (natural) bikini chicks... it was in the '90s that everything went to hell and the shows starting hiring plastic inflated nerfball-smuggler looking strip club hos for the bikini contests. Boobies are great, don't get me wrong, but nasty skanky strip club/amateur porn types don't do it for me. lol. |

I would say BOR May 2011 had a Bikini Contest(or not),
but this year (May 2012) didn't hear any announcement for one.
All I remember from HotVW's was Tina Jeanette won Bikini Contests for what seemed like years.
VW Trends had better Bikini girls, but it didn't make the magazine last.
Interesting, there is a "new" magazine called "HOT ROD Deluxe" which claims to be "100 retro".
it is a very nice rag, and they are using a lot of 50's & 60's Pin-Up girls.
It has a lot of vintage photos & history, so Pin-Ups fit the content well. _________________ Good Luck

I think that - even though its readership is like 99% male - that some women complained.
That's also what happened at Popular Mechanics magazine where women were complaing that the models in the boating stories were wearing swimsuits, utterly ridiculous.
I get CineMax, and much rather like the real girls over the ones who have had plastic surgery. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Thanks... I'm particularly proud of the "smuggler" comparison... pretty much describes a lot of those mid '90s models to a tee...lol. |

Hot VWs covered Kauai back in the Day, with all of the old school VW freaks of Kauai.
Kips old shop was the feature, and of course the Local drivers and their Rides _________________ No matter what you do, it will always be a Hippie Bus.

Car chicks > car sluts
Models > attention whores
I understand male desires and all that, but a good-looking woman modeling is different than a "car slut/whore" wearing next to nothing in heels and draping herself, in idiotic positions, over a car/boat/motorcycle/whatever for the sole purposes of making men and to attract, in my opinion, the wrong kind of attention. A car magazine and a car show (both of which kids are exposed to) shouldn't be the places for what some see as soft/amateur porn, as well as objectifying women. Car magazines contain a plethora of artistic photographs of vehicles, so why not include women in that artistic category (harkening back to the days of pin-ups), instead of taking photos of cars with scantily clad sluts with the obvious and sole intent of selling issues?
For example:
Classy
Slutty

Ditto... except page 38. The only issue I ever pick up nowadays is the Phoenix BOR issue... and this time I just had to buy it! _________________ ~Kamz

I don't see that much of a difference, but I have to say to me the scales are tipping in favor of "slutty" _________________ .

I have to agree, not much of a difference. Now if that green bug had a turn signal on that fender it would be different. |

Well, mainly because the right fender doesn't have one. _________________ .
