Lets see some fine examples of original paint titian red and white buses!
For some reason the titian red seams to fade to the primer quicker than other colors, Lots of patina'd titian red and white out there. Here are some pics of my 67 westy original paint!

red pigment is a very weak, it gets broken down by UV moreso than most colors.

I had this all original Titian Red '66 back in '96. Had strong paint! Sold it in '97 to a couple in Vancouver, Wa.

Here's my '67 from when I bought it. I'm pretty sure the top half of the bus had been painted at some point, though. I know the nose had been. Of course, the whole bus has been painted, now. Twisted Evil

I'll get some better photos when the bumpers and rims come back from the painter.

All that's left of the titian red/beige gray on my '67 standard. Wish it was still all there. (P.S. This California pseudo beach color was NOT my doing.)

This is the only pic i have other than the sawzall party pics of the 67 deluxe i bought for 200.00 in the early 90's. Creamed by a red light runner, it was hit right at the pass side rear most cargo door and the area around the rear wheel. crunched the rear seat and cargo area floor. 96k orig miles and i was the 3rd owner.it was a walk thru and was complete!

Here is my bus. However, the only bit of OG titian red that can be seen is the gas door.

It is my understanding that VW also painted buses with synthetic enamel not just the nitro-lacquer , the synthetic enamel does not hold up to sun as well as other paints and Titan Red could be a good example of that . heres a pic of my of my old 66 .. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=296212

...............This is the bus posted above. except I now own it and its five years later it is an original maple valley find bus..bus is getting all new seals new pop out frames...Ive done a ton to this bus,I plan on leaving the bottom half og red but Ive painted the top an almond beige.I still need an antenna and a couple round mirrors and the clamps if anybodys got em cheap. I removed all the aluminum and buffed it using a clay bar, amazing to find beautiful metal under years of paint & grime.
