ok so are front kick panels the same for all years? or was there a size or design or shape difference? im thinking the position of the wiper bottle and other things may have moved, but im wondering if i could take the kick panels out of a newer model, like a 73 or something, trace the shape and then cut any holes it may need for my bus. my kick panels are warped more than an american politician, so im not able to use them for tracing.
thanks in advance guys. _________________ 1969 Westy, 1690cc. montana red and cloud white.

I do know that the tops of mine are different so if yours is a 75 they're different on the top and the cut outs. http://home.comcast.net/~wafreelance/kick%20panel%20redo/IMG_0854.JPG _________________ 1975 campmobile

You should be able to get the basic shape and do a little "fitting" to make it work....

Hiya enjo,
Take some well-meant advice and just buy the kick panels from werksberg. You will not find better panels anywhere. _________________ Mike

panels are not hard to make if you do not have a pattern start with a large piece of paper and a sharpie all bottoms are straight once you get the paper to fit how you like got to your local upholstry supplie shop and get door panel board its a compressed hard cardboard. trace and cut your patterns.
I just chose to refurb mine but, am planning on making a new set also to switch out to change the look. _________________ 1975 campmobile

Thank you Bookwus.
Let's see, professional made ABS plastic (good for life of the Bus...) Bus kick panels list $35 with -20% this weekend is $28 plus shipping....but spending a weekend making it themselves ....priceless.
Sounds like our out going Government.... _________________ Werksberg Products....Products that work!

By making my own, I will learn that I don't have the proper tools or knowledge to make them as nice as the ones from Werksberg.
I can make my own shoes too, but.... |

Isn't America great with our freedom of speech!
I think you have my products mixed up with WCM's stamped out, ABS, too thick kick panels (funny thing, their Manufacturing manager hired me as a manufacturing / Plastics product consultant and I suggested to them to replace their wood kick panels with ABS and many other products ideas...but I never got paid for my time spent there...) with the funny shapes.
Mine are all hand machined in America by Americans.....for the last 20+ years.
I never say to not to try and make them yourself....if you have the time (maybe they are teenagers or in their 20's..) but time is money and what is yours worth?
And don't forget the tools needed too and extra material if you mess them up (PS: The bottoms are not flat....hint / hint....) too!
Worst to best materials:
OEM press board (saw dust with glue) and vinyl covering (falls off with moisture like the board falling apart from moisture too)
Paneling wood (better grades) can work but still too thick for the bottom grooves and hard to bend.
ABS Plastic does not fall apart from moisture, never needs any restaining or finishing....
And last but not lest....you can paint the ABS panels with Krylon Fusion plastic spray paint, body shops can paint them with special bumper flex paint or recover them with any materials...but they will not fall apart from moisture.
This is a New America and the choice is yours!

if a door panel is made properly using proper materials it will last...most upholstry shops tend to us masonite or upholsters hardboard, unlike the kickpanels on buses, they are now waterproof and do not expand when wet, the problem I have had using ABS and PVC for any kind of upholstry work is that it tends to plasicize when in contact with other vinyls and glues, depending which ones you use, there is nothing worse than your job falling apart on you, Your panels may be different, but there are some issues with using them. most people do not know what plasticizing is and if the wrong paint is used or the person doesn't take the extra time to isolate the surface. a easy paint or upholstery job turns into a nightmare...paint or glue never drying due to solvent interaction and the pvc or abs board LEECHING its solvents. _________________ 1975 campmobile
