Hey guys, wondering what I need to do to my 36hp to run it in a 12v bug or bus? Ignition wise, What about the flywheel?

Any tips on what it takes would be great! thanks!

You can keep the small flywheel and a 6V starter, if the tranny is 67/newer, you just need to replace the starter bushing in the later tranny with an adapter style.

The generator is going to be the big thing - you'll have to use the Porsche 912 style 12V 90mm-diameter generator, which is not cheap. Or find an automotive electrical rebuild expert who can re-wind your 6V generator so that it outputs 12V, (and use a 12V voltage regulator too, of course) (Either that or convert your 12V car down to 6V, but that's not a very good option either.)

The ignition, just change the coil out for a 12V version, the rest will be fine on either voltage.

There are 2 types of 12v coils,1=has to have external ballast resistor,2nd=has ballast built in as in VW type. 6v dont need ballast. Ballast is to limit current flow thru coil so u dont fry points real quick.
