Probably will be working on Justin's engine Saturday evening if anyone wants to come over to my house and hang out with us and turn a few wrenches. |

Probably a long shot, but I'm looking for a thermostat connecting rod/ flap control rod, whatever you want to call it for a doghouse shroud. I have one for a non-doghouse shroud if someone wants to trade, or you can have some parts from the stash I'm selling for it. Hope we can work something out! _________________ Steve

I know how that feels Dustin, I'm hoping to be done by Bug Out, even if I don't plan on taking it down. Having a deadline helps motivate me _________________ Steve

I don't even know if I can put the other motor in yet, I'm missing so much tin on it that I may just pull the 1600, build it up correctly and throw it back in. Once I have a running car I can worry about getting all the pieces I need for the 1500 so I have a spare, complete motor. _________________ Steve

Eastwood or Caswell. The Eastwood stuff seems to hold up better. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

About how many pounds to do most of the tin on my motor? I want to do everything black but my shroud is in good shape, so unless I absolutely have to do it also, I'm just going to stick to the lower tins. I'm thinking either satin or semi gloss black. _________________ Steve

1lb is enough to do the whole engine, shroud included. If it were me, I'd do some white and light blue to match your car, but black also looks good. The Eastwood satin black is ugly. It's textured for some reason and shouldn't be. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

I looked on eastwood's site and the only light blue is ford light blue and it's way too bright to look good. I think I may do mine similar to Dustin's motor and just do it all off white _________________ Steve

Get an RAL color chart. They're available online. Then search eBay for matching powders in that color. That's where I found the colors for the Thing. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980
