Personally though, I prefer my lights to light up outside the car first. When you you use those things, the dash lights up first......... and stays on..... for sometimes a maddening amount of time before they start to flash and turn on outside. I can make making your intentions for a quick lane change invisible to anyone but you. I hated it myself when I had one.
Actually though, thinking back to 1990 when I used one of those - none of the terminals on the PXL is a ground, you'll pop a fuse if you connect one to ground. So I'm not sure exactly how your setup worked! I had to just leave one of them unhooked and run it like a 2-terminal relay.
Not for long though, I soon learned about using a later grounded VW relay and have enjoyed that setup ever since. Actually the stock relay was grounded, where it bolted to the body, the wiring diagram doesn't show this but it was.

Yeah, been there, done that! Your picture showed the P (pilot, I believe) going to ground, which is bad. |
