I dont think that the front right s/c has a white wheel, probably the reflection through the back window from the track lighting?

Also, no rear bumpers visible possibly because the engines/trans havent gone in yet?

Ace pics! Cool

Must be a few more from this run floating around

Wow! Amazing how "gritty" the assembly area looks in this early pic. So, the tubular structure's a frame jig? Looks like it has swing away clamps that held the A and B pillars.
What's up with the wood platform that everything is sitting on? Doesn't look very heavy duty, could this be a pre-production assembly jig?

I believe it is the chassis number. Look at the rein gutter, it is the early type.

I always wonder that when I look at these old pictures..I'm sure I'm not the only one. Could one of those SC's be my 53 in that large birds eye view of the assembly line? Chances are slim, but man that would be cool...kinda like having pics of your child the day it was born. Wink Cool

alo,
it's only the little platform where the man is standing on and not the whole structure that is made from wood. Wink

Fixed the URL for you(I used 'VW Transporter'):

http://www.ullsteinbild.de/search.php?search=vw+transporter&date=

Unfortunately only b/w production pictures no colour pictures. If you search for 'KDF' or 'VW' there's much more interesting pictures.

Also check out this tread
