Great picture! Wonder if Binz painted it green, or if the German Oil Company did? _________________

^^^ That is a great question. If you have ever seen an original paint Binz, you know that the paint and masking qualities were severely lacking. _________________ nothing |

That's Gerson in the peaked cap handing over his latest work.....something ironic about DEA and Columbia and funky green. _________________ 58Euro 23 343208 The Ultimate Zimblewinder Machine.

I have recently been shown pics of a "new" one that supposedly is not in the registry. Maybe it will surface soon. _________________ Where's Garry |

My current info is that #44 is owned by someone on here who sent me a pic of the #44 tag as well. Which would make it the oldest known Binz at this time. Registry update to follow as well as some updated pics of a few. |

In 1988, Lompoc, CA... someone donated a black above the belt line & goldish-coppery-rust below the belt line '59 Binz to the high school auto shop class. It had no rear bumper, front bumper with towel bars, canned ham tail lights retrofitted & radiused rear wheel arches. I had just restored my '59 beetle I bought for $125 from a teacher at the high school a couple years earlier for my first car & wasn't in the market. The Binz languished on the side of the auto shop building for about a year with no one lifting a finger & then I saw a buddy driving it around (he bought it / fixed it or something). It had the rear suicide door.
It was around Lompoc for sure til at least about '91-'92. I moved away & he moved to Vegas to be a bartender. Not sure if he took it with him or what happened to it. It was pretty clean.
