I just went back to the auction page again to show my roommate and it now says it sold for $6453.53, $100 more than it said earlier. Weird???

It always said $6,453 for me, you can see I posted right after it ended.

I see a few people posted $6353 in this thread but I don't know why. Typo?

next week. anyone know where i can find an aug. 20- motor core.

I think your best bet would be to find an unstamped replacement-case engine and stamp the 20- code into it. Congratulations on the singlecab score.

heres the problem with that...if you dont have the original case that maybe is not usable for some reason, you will never know the original serial number.the birth cert does not tell you anymore and the museum will not tell you outright what the engine number is.they will confirm the number if you give it to them but they will not let you have it.

congrats on the purchase Joe...seems you and i like the same busses...

i just got off the phone with the person selling the SC and i got a bit of the back story. it was pulled out of a farmer's field last week.

I wonder where the field was - close to Morriston, or somewhere else in the province. Morriston is 10 minutes from here. I have seen the gateless 65 before, it has actually been for sale on this site at various times.

yes i talk to him too..If you look at the front of the truck there is a tow hitch on it..That was so he could pull it around with his tracker like a trailer and he would fill the bed up with wood..That truck that they are talking about that has no gates was there..A guy named scott that lives in Toronto called him about a week before and talked to him about the 53 the old guy told scott i only took three things off the truck and scott said what were they and the old guy replyed that he took the gates off and scott told him, you need to leave the gates with the truck you will get a lot more for the truck that way..So he did ....Oh and there were some bad ass Porsche trackers in there to..

Need advice on crossing the Canadian border. The 53 Barndoor is stuck at the border. They are saying that there must be a title or proof of ownership. Or must be disassembled and brought over as parts. The hauler wants to strip it. I told him it was not an option.

Bill of sale ? Have it notarized and fax it. Or have the driver make one up with the vin#.

If the bus has been sitting and the ownership has been lost you can try a "detailed bill of sale" with the VIN number and the sellers name and information, and the buyers name and information. I know this works within the province, but I am not sure about exporting a vehicle.

You may need to get a sworn statement done at a Ministry of Transportation licensing office. This would require the seller to go to the office with the vehicle information and state that he is the owner, and is selling it to you for X amount.

Before the seller sold the vehicle he should have gone to the licensing office and got the ownership put in his name.

I live about 10-15 minutes from Morriston if you need any help getting this sorted out.

joe,

the caramel corn bus got over with a detailed bill of sale only, no title. we have the title now but on the day it was not available. the driver had prior experience with bringing old buses from canada into the USA so this may have helped. if you think it will help you can call me at the shop today and i can give you more details.

It looks like it got washed since it was on ebay, or maybe it was from the trip to chicago through the snow.... Anyway, it already looks 100 times better.

Thank you for posting the photos. When you decide to start work on it, list the parts you need in your sigline and start a build thread and you'll probably score a lot of the parts. Looks like a decent project.

Birth Certificate arrived today! Truck is in transit from Chicago to AZ. Does anyone know what "M 010 Dustfilters for engine compartment"means?

My USA '54 Single Cab has M10 too.
My USA '55 Barndoor Kombi did not.
Maybe some sort of dusty air cleaner for Trucks?

Both of the above had 18, 83, and 86 too.
