Added some pics to the barndoor gallery. Does anyone know when the switch was from flat taillights to dome taillights? Joe C. |

This is looking awesome. The chassis build is going to go by quickly.
Is that an NOS frame rail? _________________ C-1 |

That's a hard core strip-down when you can put your bus on a work bench. WTG on the progress! |

Hey Joe, my June 17, 1953 kombi came with the flat plastic tail light lenses from the factory. Not sure exactly when the switch was made to the later style bubbles. Is that an NOS shifter boot, or one of Fuentes' repros in your pic? Progress is looking good. Can't wait to see that thing put back together. Keep up the good work. _________________ Looking for these items for my June '53 kombi:
Barndoor 25hp case 20-060XXXX (June '53)
Barndoor Eberspacher gas heater. ('53-'55)

Nice ride! Seems like more Canadian Barndoors are surfacing. If I'm correct ????? ........ your Truck does come with the flat plastic taillights, for sure with no rear bumper and the 25 hsp motor. This truck gets allot of the early features. I've never seen a Smooth Gate Truck with the " K 1509 Hella " taillights?? The bubble one's your referring to. This truck also sports the earlier style speedo, the upside down speedo as most folks refer to it. (I'm on the LATE SHOW on this thread, so its possible someone dropped this info in here?? I was answering your taillight question and kept of blabbing!)
Any Hoot, awesome to see this went to a good home and look forward to seeing it on the road. |

Just stumbled on this thread! When this truck was on ebay it took about 60 seconds to convince my buddy he should win this auction, sell his 61 SC, and use the proceeds to build it up! But by the time he put in his bid (last minute) he was already out bidded! Ohh well...
I saw those gates in the back of a guys truck at Phoenix BOR and I almost fainted, they were PERFECT!! I could have sworn they were NOS smooth gates! I momentarily tried to talk him out of them, but he said they were already going to a friend and his 60-something single cab... I'm glad he got the year wrong and they're actually going on this truck!
Good work, lets see some updates! _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |
