John Deere Corn Head Grease, part number AN 102562, is a viable alternative. |

Reviving this thread because I just encountered the same problem re oil leaking into (?) the horn ground's guide tube in a very recently-rebuilt ATE steering box.
I put Amsoil 80-90 synthetic oil in mine after sealing everything up (I thought) and within a day it was leaking from the center of the tube -- like I'd over-filled, except I only put 2-3 ounces in…
Is it consensus that gear lube alone is not viscous enough for the steering box, and that 'other additives' are necessary? Thanks _________________ 1960 grey panel |

I mixed oil treatment with the gear oil to the consistency of syrup. This is what is recommended from Wolfgang when they rebuild. Mine is also an ATE, they rebuild them now. |

Thanks.
STP, right? Is there a correct mix ratio?
The only catch for me might be that I'm using Amsoil/synthetic -- which I bought in bulk for my transmission --
Dunno how it will mix with STP… _________________ 1960 grey panel |

I believe it was STP. I think it also mixes with synthetic oil so it should work with synthetic gear oil. |

If you did every thing right, just wait it out and see if it stops dripping. Only opening to the inside is from the horn wire tube where it ends. |
