Excellent guys beautiful cars ! keep em coming Thanx to everybody so far for putting your interior up!!
The plan is anyone in the future looking to go cloth can just type cloth interior in the search and will end up here instead of spending hours searching the whole site!
Im still waiting to hear from Lenny about that Canadian standard interior I will post it up here when he gets back to me.

Check my gallery if you are looking for pictures of a Canadian Custom interior. Mine had everything intact except for the front seats. |

Yeah.............that's what they're getting. An NOS original could cost you over $500.............so I guess that's part of their pricing strategy. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

Cloth interior from my recently completed 1956 Oval - Body color is Horizon Blue. Cloth is Fischgrat Grau/Blau with Blue Leatherette and Gray piping. Cloth matches the original tool bag that came with the car and is also pictured in the 52/57 VW Workshop Manual and on Lenny Coop's site as an available 1955 to 1957 cloth pattern. Headliner is grey. Installation completed by the fabulous crew at West Coast Restorations.

Hello-
Please accept my apology for getting a little off topic.
I've read about cars with non-standard upholstery configurations ("I'll take the coral one if you can install some of those pretty green seats in it.") Could customers order custom upholstery as well? For example, streifen braun in an oval?
Thanks, _________________ "I would rather have questions that can't be answered than answers that can't be questioned."

Not really off topic if you had a really good dealer they could switch the seats door panels out of another car they had on the lot for you, very few did it though. _________________ DORMOBILE TOP WANTED!!!!

Regarding off standard or custom cloth interiors, give Lenny Coop a call or visit his website, http://www.classicvws.com/type1.htm, that page is specific to type 1. He worked with me to come up with and execute (beautifully) the scheme I used. He has all of the research done and photos and cloth types, etc.
Not cheap, but, I planned on only doing this once and, I wanted what I wanted. _________________ Charlie

I know, John. The clips are the obvious give away, but there is also no crimps on the elastic. The knots are are also tied differently off the side clips. The elastic also has a different "finish" and is doubled on the sides compared to the reproductions..........but you would have to have an original and a reproduction to show the differences in finish. The clips and the lack of crimping hardware is obvious.
Here is a reproduction....
Here is an original.......
Compare the elastic between the side clips and the netting. Notice the crimps on the original on the sides, and lack there of on the reproductions..... _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |
