I figured to keep motivation I would start a build thread here on the samba.
The passenger pan has a small hole about the size of my finger nail directly under the seat (weird that no rust in battery tray area), and there is a hole 1 inch above the fuel tank that is the size of my thumb nail. None of the rust is major and I see no reason to even replace the pans. I am the third owner of this car, and I believe it lived most of its life in California. The plan is to paint it Anthracite because that will go good with the interior I have for it.
Here are some pic's
I left Houston at 6pm and drove to meet Nate in Dallas it made for a long night I did not get home until 4am and I had to work the next day.
At Jason's shop the next day
Notice the silicone on the seal....I laughed at that, but it saved the package tray it is spotless!
Kiley is happy
In its spot at Jason's

I had the car soda blasted.
This is the worst part of the entire car
nice dent in the quarter hidden by bondo
on the way back my tow bar brok and the car started to fishtail on me.

Separated the pan. Not one broken bolt. Every bolt came out with no issues.
I built a rotisserie.
I used 2"X4"X1/4 rectangular tubing
I know my welding is not the prettiest but its gonna hold.
Got the car loaded onto it as well. It wasnt very hard to hang it either.

Had a little work left getting what the soda blaster couldnt because it was on its pan.
I am going to delete the heater tubes. I never run heater boxes as it is.

Hey Chris, I try and go to Jason's every weekend to work on it, you are welcome anytime. Shoot me a text when you are ready to pull the body off of the low light. I'm sure I can get Billy and Doug to give a hand as well. _________________ Ethan Dunlap DLK
