Does anyone have info and any more pictures of one of these hella hood handle foglights?
How rare are they, I've only seen 2 examples.

I'm pretty sure it's meant to be a permanent mount and hardwired, but I couldn't say for sure. I just bought one from Alexwoa (vw museum guy in germany, has lots of rare parts) on ebay. I'll know a little more once I receive it. I have only seen the one from the pictures above, and the one I got on ebay. I'd love to see more pictures and get any more info if there is any. _________________ I like VWs |

There was a discussion of this part sometime in the past, but after searching.......I could not find anything. It may have been in the old "rants"... I seem to remember that the discussion was about the whether or not it (light) belonged on a split. I think that it was "decided" that it was "later" accessory................ That's really all I remember....Sorry. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

You need someone with a Hella Parts Catalogue to look it up and see when it was issued and discontinued, it will also indicate what if any other parts and part numbers are associated with this light. _________________ -----

Thanks..... I think that there was also something about the "correct" era for that accessory. I like the picture that shows it with slotted screws........but I think there was someone that posted a catalog for pre-53 Hella lights...........and it was not in the posted pictures. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." They are not period correct fo split or oval era.
They first appeared late 1957.
They were not around for very long either. Only available for a few years.
2nd pic is from a 1958 Gute Fahrt magazine.

Steve Makepeace (Bill & Steves) runs one on his split. I think it looks great, period correct or not. _________________ Do you want fries with that? |

I'm just curious on how you ran the wires for this cool light. Down under the front lip of the hood. Dowlesnt sound like a good look to have a wire running down from the Bottom of the light. |
