the only pic I have was uploaded from a toyota club guy he snaped from my sunday outing, which was 98% successful in finding Rear shock problems and trans mount issues

heres how they look
Link
finally converted to the spring plate eliminator to get rid of the squeaks, added dual shear.
had to rebuild rear shocks/New springs, making sure I still clear fenders. and test
then a whole 20 hours before heading to Fleetweek/car show in San Francisco I ran into 3rd gear shifting problems total takedown/problem solve and test drive hours before heading off on a 300 mile trip
drilled a breather while i was at it too
at the show

Well Is been a awesome ride with this thing.... But here it comes
more even worse transmission problems have come at me again. the whole "Rarity" of the transmissions and gold prices for even the Ring&P I have kinda made up my mind on this little idea of a new car, and totally get away from a vw box altogether (the main problems with car. Vw parts ).
just need 1975 or older for Ca smog.
so in the process of new ideas.
building a:
Datsun truck
toyota truck
porsche
or truck frame Bug body
whatever comes up first and for the right $$ Using all parts from the baja but adding a toyota 5 speed and solid rear axle. and whatever left will probably part out
took like $80 the night before the problem hit haha

Jeff that blows. This happening to you doesn't make me happy about having to shell out for a trans, which I have to soon. _________________ Herc |

well crap im back.
bought my datsun cab (its complete just disassembled)on a 4x4 toyota frame!just had to put them together. but would be too much work for my ideas so its Sold.
Then! this chassis came along with an 091
all while trying to move into my shop, now 3 buggys to work on, so time to fiddle with the transmissions again

thanks
Selling it 1 of these days. its fully original and clean.just need to shine it up! dont want to drive it cause I might scratch it haha.
so installed my 002 bell housing on the 091. Its got the 4.57r&p yay
it has springs to center shifter or whatever? but after installed in car it wont allow shifter to travel to 3-4th at all.
removed springs everything is flawless until test drive and 4th gear is spun :2gunfire: got the trans Out again ready to disassemble so I can take it out on Newyears
heres the springs
also bringing this thing back to life after breaking a Bj, then stealing the motor.

Until
Last night in extreme fog I slowed and stopped to a stop sign And the 4 runner tried but didnt doing 35
Power steering pulley, pump/mount, ripped radiator hose, brake light, bumper is banged up with only minor fatigues/crack, havent looked on the inside cage yet but Passenger and I walked away unharmed!

WOw judging by the damage to the 4 runner vs your bug, I would have to say I have great confidence in that cage. Your car will live to see another day, the Toyota, not so much. |
