Great find! Awesome, how these ultra rare VW38 parts survived and are rediscovered!
How did you find it ? Was it part of an old Kübel, like the front axle ? |

Excellent score once again! It's just unbelievable the number of E60 parts being found lately.
I wonder what is the weight difference between a cast aluminium fan as this and a later one? |

The developers of the VW prototype went through at least four variants of an engine for the car, designated "A" through "D", including a double-piston twin cylinder, a two cylinder, a radial engine and a four cylinder, some with sleeve valves, some with overhead valves, before the "E" engine was designed which ultimately became the preferred version. The VW prototype project was originally designated the Type 60 by Porsche's design studio, so the engine was known as the "E60" engine. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

This E 60 fan looks very similar to an impeller used in turbo aircraft engine. It looks very heavy too. _________________ beetle 1956 rag top euro

Just curious, is there anyone still alive that worked on at the VW plant before and just after the war? If so it would be nice to get their picture with this car. _________________ 52 Deluxe Zwitter

| Just noticed this thread has come unstuck from the sticky board. Oh, well... we'll now have to keep posting new stuff in it to keep it at the top. |

I'm just curious as to what the status of the engine is. I know Christian spent some time in California to be at the Classic, but it seemed like it was really making some progress and then got quiet all of a sudden. _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)

I take it that this is completely done now? Other than the Nr.16 engine? _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)
