does a 383 have a mark for #1 cylinder.could not see one. could someone show me where #1 should be located on the cap.and or rotor pointing on housing thanks |

thanks ,looks like a reputable So Cal builder had an off day, drive gear in wrong, now rotor points to a faint mark on housing to the right as you said. |

I've never seen one come from Bosch that has a #3 mark. If so, it's been added. _________________ Glenn

Sorry I was not clear. I meant that the cam is ground to compensate for number 3 overheating. I had read that later ones were done that way, just wondering if 383s were. I have not put one on a distributor machine to check. |

They were not.
The #3 retard of 3* was on the 68-71 aluminum distributor. The switch to the offset cooler negated the need for the retard. _________________ Glenn
