Hi,
nobody has ever cleaned it ?
I'm reassemblating my heater boxes, I have a question :
does the flap rod has to go inside or outside ?
I've found differents pics who show both, does somebody know what is the factory way ?

I also changed the seal of the engine bay
I found the front one with only a single lip ( the old one was double )
what it should be ? does the new one I put is in the good way ?

Love your attention to detail!
Can you enlighten me on the process of black zinc plating. Most plating companies here (in Holland) only offer ugly yellow (cadmium?) plating.

Keep the updates coming

Hi Peter
thank you for your coment Wink yes I like to pay attention to detail Wink
so the process is simple :
when you have brushed all your blots, nuts, washers till arrive to bare metal
you give it to a zinc plater, I have the choice between, gold as you said very ugly render, silver as classic zinc plated, or black zinc plated
I can ask the technical name of that if it can help you
here pics of these parts when plated :

Hi,

I did some searching on the internet about the plating. I think they use manganese phosphate or zinc phosphate. There is also a method called 'black oxidizing' ( http://www.caswellplating.com/metal-finishing-solutions/black-oxide-kits.html ) which you can do a home but I read it's not durable on exposed bolts and stuff.
I'll search for a company who can do it for me because it looks very nice imo.

Hi Peter
yes you're right about the name you said,
the other way called black oxidizing, in french "brunissage" is used for example to protect cannon of weapons, it work and stay nice if you take care of it..... if you have bolt and small parts who are exposed they will rust fast Sad
if you want to send your parts un France, I can help you Smile
