Black zinc plating is the final bath for zinc plated parts, so the corrosion durability is similar than zinc plated parts. The bath changes the surface to black color.

For example here you can get a set. But you need the complete zinc plating process too, lonely this you don't do anything. That's why it's much easier bring the parts to a professional company.

Hi
here the picture of the gear box, it was fully checked up :
new bearing, gaskets, changed some damaged parts,
now it's like new, will put more pics when reassemblated
for the oil reflector I'll finally turn it 180° as shown on WW website

Hi
I'm looking for a way to get the same render as NOS parts, it seems to be like a wax , I bought some Brown 3M wax in aerosol can ( ref 08901 )
the render is nice but the problem is that wax doesn't become enough dry
What do you use to protect parts like cylinder wheel ? does there is a process to get the same render ass NOS parts ?
thank

Hi Yann,

Awesome work on the gearbox! Looks awesome!

For your question about coating of blank parts.
I used valvoline glasklar before. It cures to a non sticky yellowisch layer, but I think it is easily dissolved by brake cleaner or other solvents.
http://www.valvolineeurope.com/english/products/te...klar_spray

I also used RX5, which is based on lineseed oil and alkyd resin.
There are no distributors in France, but there are in Belgium
http://www.nuovatec.com/index1.html
and the Netherlands
http://www.rx5.nl/

I'll keep checking this thread for updates Very Happy

Hi everybody Very Happy
After almost 2 years of sleeping I'm back to finish my 53, tomorrow the oval is going to a friend workshop...
My goal would be to have the 53 on the road for Ninove 2017 as a test drive and 100% ready to HO 2017 !
I'll need these parts to have a car 100% complete and original :
- pair of 4 bolts front 19mm cylinders wheel, NOS or in good used condition
- pair of front headlight bucket ( split bug style ) original if I can get it cutted on a non usable fender or brand new if someone knows where I could find it
I need it because unfortunetly the previous owner has cut it to slam the car, so I'm very sad with it Crying or Very sad
- rear apron inner metal part, NOS or good used condition, brand new too
So, if someone could help me with it Very Happy

I'll update this thread soon with fresh pictures Very Happy

Hi,
I think the reply is in your question, this part prevent the oil spraying out of the engine under the dynamo...
maybe someone else could confirm it
