Really? Is that a Type 62 prototype?

Wow. Don't tease, what's the story on it?

A Type 62 for sure, but what is the link with the 1937 W30 chassis...?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Type 62 Kübelwagen prototypes were based on VW38/39 chassis...?

It's the real deal.... And it is in this thread for a reason.

But - Christian is soon to be unloading in Hessisch and will eventually tell us the whole amazing story.

I'm not sure we can go that high unless it also needs a complete restoration!

GULP! Shocked

Look forward to hear more on this. Razz VW38 book arrived 2 weeks ago and I am loving it, there are some "new" photos (previously unpublished) in it of the V3/3.

another amazing car for your collection. thank you for sharing these previously secreted away or lost cars with us all.

a little off topic but when you are driving or towing these ww2 era cars do you have old men come up and talk to you about their experiences with the cars during military service?
i'm wondering as over here ex servicemen will still mention serving or talk about their time/experiences and i was wondering if it is the same in germany or if it is a forbidden topic.

It turns out you can buy a whole new W30, made in Brazil for the low low cost of R$60,000, whatever that means Shocked http://www.brazukasoldbugs.com/vw-30-em-fase-final-de-fabricacao.html
Actually not a totally awful repro. How long do you think it will be before the one in the pictures turns up in Puerto Rico, touted as 1937 W30 26?
(I know you're reading, Dr. Norman, and I think you suck)

I'm enjoying this topic! This is an drawing that I did about 8 years ago, and ended up using for a swap meet poster.

Very Happy

I've always loved the W30 proto... Especially the large louvers in the back.

He raised the price, R$ 80k now (that would be more or less US$ 44k, in today's echange rate). Believe it or not, thats what a premium sedan costs back here (cars here cost their weight in gold, and by "premium" I mean a pedestrian Honda Civic Rolling Eyes ).
I do not want to nit pick, but he got all that trouble but forgot to change the doors. And no one gets the headlights right, they are like the ones from the VW's replica...
Someday I shall build my own, full size Razz

BTW, what was after all the connexion between the W30 and the typ 62?
