Yesterday i had the original owner of my 65 square stop by work and drop off another set of original keys for the square.
Cool
We got a few minutes to chat about the car and he was pretty happy it was still on the road.
I guess a friend of his sees the car parked at work every day and told him about it.
i asked about whether they ordered the car as an E or if it just came like that.
He said he bought it as is off the showroom floor, and traded in a 62 beetle for it.

In the last two days: Replaced both tie rods and all four ends, replaced the steering box, pittman arm, steering coupler, steering damper and lubed the front end (used a whole cartridge of grease).

Prepared the refurbished fuel tank for installation, removed the SB12 headlight assemblies and pulled the NOS 3 bolt headlamp assemblies off the shelf.

I scored a nice air cleaner for my car.

It even came with what appears to be the original oil!

Should I keep the oil? Smile

If you don't, it won't be original anymore. It's only original once.

I was at the swap on Sunday and picked up a groovy license plate frame to keep the vibe going on my Sqaure...

I also picked up this Hurst bent shifter for the square...

They both need to be cleaned, relubed, and have the bottom plate replaced as they are missing. But that is a small price to pay as I paid $70 total for both of them.

Don't forget to save the original air inside, too.

I had the delightful experience of attempting to install my back window in my Notch only to realize the body shop that gave me my glass back with my car when they got done painting it some 7 months ago gave me back the wrong glass (I think for a Ghia or something its a lot smaller) and they most likely don't have my original anymore. Is there ANYBODY out there (other than ISP that wants a fortune) that has one their willing to part with??? PLEASE HELP!!!
