Compared to yesterday, when I hobbled together a grenaded ignition switch and steering column housing, today I just changed out the dirty FI gas filter.
I couldn't find my grease gun, so I'll tackle that next weekend. Then an oil change, and general adjustment (brakes, pedal, clutch, idle, etc. and she will be ready for the Rally! If parts arrive, I may change out the ignition switch and housing for a more robust setup before the Rally. Next weekend will be busy!
Oh, and I printed and cut out the Rally logo on a thin magnetic sheet from Staples, so I am a rolling advert for the Rally now.

First Post... here goes.
Yesterday, i fixed the brake lights and hazards. new bulbs and cleaned the lenses of the tail lights.
Today, fixed the drivers seat back a bit so it sits more up right. and then... took the 69 Squareback on the road, first time that car has rolled more than 100' in 22 years.
bought it from a gal here in AK, she took the engine and tranny from a donor car, put the interior in it, sorted the suspension. runs and drives great.
Tomorrow... new tires. |

Ummmmm, yesterday I trailered her 11hrs round trip out to AirKewld to work on rear airbag suspension with Pete. After a day's worth of measurements, tweaks and set of new bags installed, she sure is laying pretty now...(IMHO of course) hahaha!

After 4 years or so, I finally found some German Hella H4 units that I could shove my NOS 6V yellow Marchal bulbs into. Had to make a few modifications, but man they came out awesome.

got the turn signals fixed, and over the last week or so, put a coat of paint on it after fixing some rust.
took it for a nice long drive today as well, its fun seeing people look at it and wonder what the heck it is. |

Those look nice and thin. I have mounted my old pair of Bosch lamps that are somewhat similar, using the same ISP mounting bar they bolted to my '71. Last weekend I wired them up, and this weekend got the dual horns and stereo wiring done.
I like the yellow reflector on those foglamps. I had an old pair of 356/911 lamps (the ones shaped like giant '67 backup lamps), but those were on my '67 when it was stolen. Nice look for a VW. They also had the clear bulb and lens, with the tinted reflector. My Bug was Zenith Blue, similar to your square. Nice color combo. |

This is my new friend. A fuel injected little buddy that I hope to keep that way. I've already had the throttle body replaced. Some new rear axle boots put on. The old carpet and tar board ripped out. Rusty hole patched, rust neutralized, and the pan painted with por 15. Laid some foil jute and new carpets down. Temporarily painted the old front door panels and rear cargo panels. Plan to keep the old paint and any advice in preserving it and what products to use to do so will be greatly appreciated. I'll cross the fuel injection bridge when I crash into it, but any friendly advice on simple maintenance would be helpful too. |

I'd like to Thank Chris Sheridan for helping me find these for my Notch.
They were both looking a little rough, but some time spent cleaning them up was worth it. Now I have a matching spare for my Notch. In fact, I've already got a tire mounted on that 1 rim, and it's now residing in the spare tire well. Thanks Chris, I really appreciate it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
