PostPosted: Thu Feb 05, 2015 2:35 pm    Post subject: Worked on underside pan Reply with quote

Spent the afternoon removing the og wax/underseal stonechip coating from the underside. Not much fun, freezing cold.

Nice original paint pan with no rust Smile

It was lifting and flaking in places so it had to be done as it has to survive the UK weather.

Anyone know what was used originally?

just the otherside to do. Then prep for paint and wax/Gravitex

Got the running rich problem fixed, now to change the pushrod tubes tomorrow. It's supposed to be 72* here in Wichita.

Also buffed the hood with turtle wax rubbing compound to remove some oxidation. Og paint isn't bad. Just chipped

Good thing is i can flip the seat forward and not lose my sound like with my rolls on the seat, and I don't lose any cargo space.

another couple warm days to work in the garage.
West system 105 epoxy and 3 layers of 6 oz cloth..... it's getting there,
still have some to add to the back side.
I think I'll get some Ecopoxy so I can keep going in the house and not have to wait for a warm day.

Sorted the dented front fender.

Wax-oiled inside the fender, fitted back on the car with the NOS elm green beading (thanks Alex), and installed the trim.

Just headlight and turn signal to put back on.

Fitted my NOS Hella US spec rear lights Smile

PostPosted: Wed Feb 18, 2015 12:21 pm    Post subject: maintenance stuff Reply with quote

Boring stuff today. I had an hr spare between jobs.

Oil change and filter clean. Only dropped the oil once so far when I first got the car and it had been stood for years in Cali. What came out was sludgy then but the motor was not running.

Now its covered approx 15 miles and had it running for 30 mins at a time in the workshop. So dropped oil and filter again. Some serious sludge Shocked Must be that Quaker State the previous owner used. Never seen anything like this before.

I hope that's the worst of it, getting car prepped for its first road trip to Belgium in a few weeks time.

Changed the rubber boot too on the heater riser pod.
