What a bad ass car!
Now I have a question for your Northstar.
Why dont you box in your arms? I wouldn't think it would add much weight, especially if your arms are aluminum? even if they are steel, 1/16" plate shouldn't be tremendous especially considering the engine pushing this beast.
Unless you want the arms to be the weak point? _________________ "In case I don't see you, good afternoon , good evening, and goodnight."

Great video. Next run can you mount the camera to view the suspension working? That would be great to see also.

it all pulls out of reciever hitch with one bolt and wire clip.. for easy removal..
i installed HID headlights and i also made a led whip for 15$

I had a little trouble at the last dunes trip broke a few more parts... so I decieded im gonna rebuild rear arms totally.. upgrade to 1 1/4 heim with uniball.. go to center mount gear one hub.. and set up for bypass shock..
sooo... im collecting parts again...... saving money... car is parked..
I did plan on hooking up supercharger this winter... I wanted to upgrade heads and studs before I did... but now I think I might just get the bigger injectors, reprogram computer, and go for it...
hopefully get started on arms in the next few months... ill post some pics.. _________________ GRIP IT AND RIP IT!!!

This what happens when you make toooo muchhhh powaaaaa!!!!
Cleaned off second on the mainshaft... back out to Kevin @ KCR for a ERCO mainshaft and hardened gears.... mainshaft is 1000.00 all by itself!
This happened while coming off a normal 1st to 2nd shift then on the boost around 3000rpms... let go @ 5800rpms... made a noise I won't soon forget... my wallet is still cryin!

Yeah... pretty jacked up... running a 002 five rib... super diff 4:57... I'm pretty sure the engine torque ate the main shaft... that lil turbo Ecotec of mine spools super quick makes torque on demand. Calculated 17:3 comp ratio with just 7psi of boost. I've got the gear stack back out to KCR for a hardened ERCO main shaft and Weddle gears. Should hold together. |

Holy crap man. I swear this website is gonna be the death of me. I've read five builds in the last week or so...and wow. But yours...my friend. It takes the cake.
I'm scheming now. I wonder how a 915 would hold up to a Dodge BB400? Probably not well...but...my gears are turning. |

Not meaning to hijack but what is the turbo set-up that you are ruuning on your ecotec that spools quick and doesn't lose low-end torque?
I been hearing the way to go for the dunes (that's where my car goes) is supercharger. Turbo has too much lag...... |

Well for starters... I would not recommend adding a Turbo to an internally unmodified/stock Ecotec. The pistons and rods will eventually vaporize and shatter with anything over 5psi of boost. If you plan to turbo your Ecotec... at the minimum... you'll have to have forged pistons, and "H" beam rods... a good set of injectors too... I'd recommend a set out of a Ford GT500... think they are rated @ 42psi at 45 pounds of fuel pressure up from the 26psi factory set... direct bolt on... you'll have to have a tune done also... I'd recommend a "street" tune over a dyno tune... better overall drivability.
My build utilizes Wiseco 10:1 forged pistons, Eagle "H" beam rods, forged crank, APR studs, Cometic head set, stock head, stainless valves, mild porting, stock cams, stock chains, stock block, high pressure springs, high volume fuel pump (255lpm) high volume oil pump, factory GM rod and main bearings...
The turbo actually came off of a old Volvo... Bought a factory Mitsu rebuild kit for 80.00 bucks and had it high speed balanced by 3rd Coast Turbo.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/94-95-96-97-Volvo-850-R-V7...mp;vxp=mtr
I fabbed the "log" style turbo manifold myself... With the factory 10:1 comp ratio and 7 to 9 psi my calculations bring the total comp ratio to around 17.3:1 or there abouts under boost... The TDO4 has literally no lag what so ever... and being that the motor is 10:1 comp off boost, you have pretty good power at cruise anyway.
Most people drop the comp to 8.5:1 when adding the turbo... this creates the lag because of the lower com ratio and lower hp at cruise... it takes the turbo a few seconds to catch up on these motors. My setup is for torque and man does it grunt... think the mainshaft speaks for itself.
Stock internals on the boost!!!!

very nice stingray. I can't throw that kind of money into my engine...I've priced these ecotec parts and they ain't cheap.....although if I have to do a tear down it'll have to go back together right. I've heard running 5-6 lbs boost on the stock engines is fine but the lag would kill me with the kind of driving I do. I'm mostly with quads, not other cars so our duning isn't real fast.
and yeah, sorry for the treadjack.
That is a very nice "baja bug". |

that's some damaged goods...
speaking of... I ripped a trailing arm last year breaking inner heim joint.. snapping heim this year not arm..
was gonna totally rebuild rear arms.. but with lack of money this year to do the ugrades I wanted... mid hub, bypass shock and total arm rebuild with uniball ect...
ive decided to do a quick fix on old arm.. again...
im going to reinforce the pivot brackets.. use 3/4 bolt instead of 5/8..
weld tube with derlin bushings on inner pivot instead of heim joint..
then im upgrading outer heim to stronger aurora heims .. the old ones were ballistic heims made by Midwest control products..??
looking at 600 total rather than 4 to 5000... to get back on the road
I just don't have the cash and want to use the car this year!! ordered all the parts.. ill post some pics on upgrade.. hopefully It will hold up... gotta be better!! _________________ GRIP IT AND RIP IT!!!
