What the hunter will be missing.
I am pretty sure this is a split window but I haven't seen it without the tarp in 10 years. It is my dad's neithbors. It has been sitting like this for a long time.
I asked about it a long time ago and he said is was his son's. Doesn't look like they ever got around to working on it.

This topic was started in 2009. You would think there would be post after post of hidden gems. I guess everyone has their own secret bug graveyard they don't want anyone else to know about.... I know I do........ _________________ "Good judgment comes from experience and a lot of that comes from bad judgment"

|
|
This isn't really backwoods hunting but I'll tell you guys about my most recent find:
Back on the 28th I got home from hanging out with friends and checked my email etc. I stay away from ebay, but I was taking a break so why not. Well I found a 1967 beetle in the classifieds section and wanted to look at it but never really heard back from the owners. Fast forward 2 weeks and I'm borrowing Mike's towbar to bring it to the Air Cooled Express shop
So the worst part is the paint and the bottom plate of the heater channels. The doors open and shut alright, but in a few years it'll need them. The owner before the lady I got it from attacked it with sandpaper or something in addition to it sitting outside in the sun forever. There are tiny hail dings and some filler in spots. It's also dirty as can be, as it was sitting since August in a garage.
I got it to run with the carb from my coffee table, I was sick of looking at it anyways. I also bought the last Nexen bug sized tire in the western world from Walmart's warehouse.

Oh, and I need to track down some running boards to replace the original ones. _________________ R.I.P. Mom

I picked this up at an auction in Missoula MT. as part of an Estate Sale. Did some hunting along the way back and found some deals I'll post up later.

Matching #'s pan and body 1958 sedan. Found this one in Florence, Texas a few days ago. My friend and I went and picked it up yesterday for a very fair price. Appears to be a early square, build date October 1957 by my research.
Came with some goodies... snowflakes, proper gas tank, license plate light, all handles for the in and outside of the doors, hood emblem, both front fenders, pair of 58 Texas plates and a 1600 dual port that isn't locked up. Some glass, a few other odds and ends. Well worth the 150 mile (one way) trip from Dallas, and the $500 truck we drove to get it gave us no fuss.

Sweet find! Man, I am ALWAYS on the lookout in Texas fields and back yards for that elusive find. Any rust issues? _________________ .

Other than surface rust, all are on the driver side... there is a small spot down low on the rear quarter behind the door, a small spot on the top of the heater box, a few pinholes at the bottom of the B pillar and a small spot on the firewall below the master cylinder. |

Found this 67 on the local craiglist and picked up for a great deal. Has hardly any rust. Great start.
