My son sent me these pics over the cell phone earlier this week.
He incidentally ran across this unmolested April 1958 Bug with only two owners and less than 87k on the odometer also nearly all stock right down to the old bias ply tires. Two dents on the left wings, but other than that a very, very nice score . Has been sitting since 1992 so it would obviously need some TLC. I was told this is a part of a car collection of an elderly man reluctant to sell … |

Thirty years ago, I lived down in Santa Cruz, and it was a gold mine for VW discoveries. I spent a few years obsessed with finding as many as I could. I had a great time, but a child on the way meant I had to grow up and concentrate on a real job. Fast forward to now, and 500 miles north of there, and it isn't quite as easy to find those nuggets sitting out in the open. Now we have CL, and that has changed everything. I happened to check it just late one night, a few days ago, and somebody had just posted a '59. I met up with the seller, and we struck a deal. The first VW project I've had in 26 years... it is pretty easy to reignite those fires.

Just picked this baby up for 50$
Still unclear on what year she really is... and really unsure what to do with her.
She has a (what I believe to be is a 1500cc single port engine) that is seized. |

I think you did okay for $50- but I'm almost certain it's a 2000 or 2001 model Audi. It might say 1.8 or 2.7 on the tailgate... _________________

hehehehe
Its a 99 with the 2.7t and a 01E 6spd all swaped in. Came stock with the 2.8 and a 5spd manual.
With the optional bumper torn off because ran over a wild hog, and spare chrome wheels because the hog bent one package. (I normally run RS4 9spokes ) |

Ive been driving by this bug for like 10 years and never stopped, I was always on vacation when driving by, it always had a pile of stuff on it and I didn't know it was a rag, this bug has been parked since 1982, lucky that he put 4x4's under it so it never sunk into the ground, pan is in great shape, cleaning it up today and trying to get it to start in the next couple days

"in situ". |
