Don't know if KdF's had the SEKURIT logo, but early post-war Type 11s did.

I think this was covered here before and the consensus was that the logo didn't appear on the rear glass until very late splits....

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that. Search the forum .....

My both splits, one from 51 and 52 none has the sekurit logo, I repeat none of the cars have the logo in the rear split window, the others windows from the car's have it, so I supposed, that rumors about zwitters can be true.

I really don't know, I am not expert, just the facts from my cars, maybe others have it.

Frank

As John has said this has been covered before and there is alot of different opinions. I have owned 2 splits (hardtops), a 47 which also came with spare glass from another 47 (i have the logbook from the scrapped car) and both these sets have the SEKURIT markings and a Jan 51 which was a very original car and almost certainly had original glass, this also had SEKURIT markings. Interesting to note the Font spacing is different on the very early glass.

As others have stated their cars do not have the logos so I think both were used.

Cheers
Kev

My past 3 splits, two 50's, one 51, no logos in the rear glass, and all were tempered glass, not later aftermarket glass. Nearly all 50-53 splits I've ever seen here and in Europe (prior to repro tempered glass being available) had no logos in the rear glass.

Seem to recall that prior consensus on this was that all pre-50 splits had glass with logos, no logos after that out of the factory at least. No clear read if replacement glass from the dealer in 50-53 had logos or not, but I tend to believe that replacement glass would have had logos to ensure the glass met safety standards, and to prevent cheaper plate glass from being installed but sold as safety glass.

Just a hunch here but I can see how the factory might have been able to order glass from Sekurit without logos just to save a few pennies, but still have it documented that the rear glass from the factory met safety standards, again just a hunch, anything to save a few pennies though as production volumes started to ramp up though, especially on glass that likely was not prone to being broken too often.

Mark Brutto at BFY told me years ago that the rear glass was plate glass.

My car has plate glass rear windows that are original. They both have curvy cracks where lightning hit the garage where the car sat for many years. Something burning from the roof fell on the back of the car including the rear glass causing it to crack.

I've never seen rear glass without tong marks, indicating that (at least the glass I have seen) is tempered and not plate glass.

Neither my '50, nor my '51 have logos, but both have tong marks and as such are tempered.

There is a fairly new horizontal tempering process that can create tempered glass without tong marks, but it was not used in the 50s.

Not true, read my post, if most of those on here are talking about cars for the US market maybe they had no logo or different glass but I have 3 sets of split glass with SEKURIT markings and I am sure they are from the year cars I have stated if not its very unlikely they are all from Zwitters.

My splits from 51 and 52(from August) no logo and in Europe, export models to Portugal.
