It was billed as a pickup. I could see it schlepping luggage around a sprawling resort hotel. |

The answer was worth looking up if just to wonder what they were thinking when they picked the name:

The name also tells you where it was made, and it isn't Germany. |

That was also worth looking up. Would have never guessed.

They are going to have to change the name. "Bambi" just isn't going to cut it these days.
And a remake today just won't be the same anyway. I parked my Grand Caravan next to a new Fiat 500 4-door, and the remake is as high as my minivan and almost as long! Who are they kidding! _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

OK, good point, I was thinking of a Fiat 600 but even that was way smaller than the 500 remake...

But then they had to, in order to meet the safety regulations and consumer expectations of today. |

I won't be too surprised if someone knows the manufacturer of this tractor. The great majority of us will be very surprised when the information is revealed.
Oh, by the way, it's for sale at an asking price of $20,000.

You'll have to be more specific since Junior is a model, not a make. |

it's written on the engine cowling... however they were actually built by MAN. _________________ cars:

well, pretty much as any other car of that period... the only big problem with the 600 multipla was that they didn't even try to modify the rear end to have a minimum of luggage space. it proved popular with italian taxi drivers, though. _________________ cars:

It's a 1959 Porsche Standard Diesel. Notice the bolt pattern on the front wheel? The Junior, also by Porsche, is a smaller model. I wasn't able to determine if MAN AG of Germany provided the diesel engine, but that's a possibility.

AFAIK Mannesmann AG acquired the rights from Porsche to build the "Porsche Diesel" tractors in the former Zeppelin Friedrichshafen factory, then the business was sold to MAN, which kept producing "Porsche Diesel" tractors, and ultimately ended under Renault ownership. _________________ cars:
