I know this is a long shot. We had a fatal pedestrian hit and run in our neighborhood just before Christmas. These photos are the only vehicle evidence collected at the scene. If anyone can possibly shed any light on what type of vehicle they are from, I will pass along to our local police. Thanks.

So, is there some reason you think the vehicle might have been a Volkswagen, especially an older one? Any rough description of the vehicle? _________________ #############################################

The crime lab should be able to route such evidence to a better crime lab where tests like infrared analysis (FTIR) might be able to match up to a manufacturer. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. No. I'm just putting it out there on all the vehicle forums that I am part of (this one, Jeep TJ and Ford Ranger) in hopes that the car guys might recognize something. I've used the "Off Topic" forums in all cases. _________________ '65 Sunroof Bug |

We're close to the FBI HQ and national crime lab so I'm hoping our local PD has access to those resources. I have no doubt they will find the MF who did this...just a matter of time. It is not a well lit street, but leaving the scene is unforgivable. _________________ '65 Sunroof Bug |

That side marker insert looks kinda like a 98-ish crown Victoria. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Yep...I spoke to the detectives. They are focused on the Avenger. Just a matter of time.

The top and bottom photos look like the generic clear anti-reflective license plate covers you can get anywhere.
They don't actually work on traffic cameras, but they sell to people who speed and think so. And those who are likely to hit-and-run, too... |
