So I'm having this issue, car idles smooth, the timing is set correctly, valves adjusted correctly, when I'm driving and have the throttle about halfway down the car falls on its face and sputters but if I go full throttle it accelerates great.

Welcome to the samba. I know you stated that your timing is correct. Go back and check it again. I had a flat spot at throttle opening. It turned out to be timing. I was surprised that 2 degrees made a huge difference. Also look for vacuum leaks.
Good luck.

So did this motor previously run fine and this problem is something new? Or did you just start driving it? What's the jetting on your 44's? Ever had a wideband on it?

Fresh gas, I played with the timing to no avail.. Back at 30 deg. Just drove it on the freeway and it sputtered and popped the whole time, felt like it was running on 2 cylinders. Once I got off the freeway it went back to just having a huge hesitation at about half throttle then catching itself and accelerating smooth again at full throttle.

2332? Fairly big cam and rough idle? Can you tell if it's missing at idle? I'm thinking plugged idle jet. You'd be partially on the idles at cruise, and then as you floor it you go over onto the mains and they take over and it runs fine.

Check your dual carb linkage very carefully and make sure both carbs are operating at the same rate. Have you sync'd both carbs with a snail guage?

Checked linkage and it's good, I figured it's running a bit lean too but it was running great the other day so it may have just gotten plugged up. It has a pretty mild can and idles smooth, and yes I've synced the carbs. I'm going to pull the carbs off and clean them out, check the floats etc.

Agree with the above it sounds lean, bump up to a 52-55 idle jet

clean the idle jets, jet up the mains to 145 idles probably 55 airs 200. and run a can of berrymans fuel system cleaner through it($3.17 at wallyworld). the dist probably also needs recurved. plugs may need changed too, check heatrange reading.it may also be carb acc pump adjustment.or dead pump
