That kind of bumpers are "export ones"... not exclusive for the USA market... some brazilian models also have them...

In the Canarian islans (from Spain, on the Atlantic Ocean) the beetles have that kind of bumpers... like some ex portuguese colonies (now Mozambique and Angola) also have that bumpers...

Many pics from the 60's of Wolfsburg city show many beetles also with that... when they buy the cars, ordered that option... Very Happy

Agree. And so does the Fiat 125 (1966-72), the Ford Cortina Mk2 (1966-70) and the Volvo 144 (1967-72) lined up on the left just behind the split bus.
