Found this enamel patina monster. A couple of questions has anyone seen this manufacturer before? Is it made in 54? its the same size as the others about 630x900mm but the edges are thicker up to 20mm. Also, if you look at the C its seems to be different from most, super heavy, heavier than normal but the reflective gritty finish is flaking off. Still, I like it...

Here are some of my enamel signs.
Like this one very much ! Makers mark HOELZL WIEN XX
Another DIENST sign, probably there was another one mounted below, like on this picture. With makers mark EMAILLIERWERK HANNOVER MELLENDORF
The small DIENST sign 60x60 xm . I remember a discussion about this type of signs. Someone had doubts if they are original or later repops. I know there are later repops, but I was always convinced that my one is an original. It shows the typical marks of an old sign. But cause of the discussion, I had some doubts too, especially as I have never seen an old picture with this sign. Today I had a very close look now on the sign, and saw that it has the same makers mark EMAILLIERWERK HANNOVER MELLENDORF like my other signs. This makes me believe again that it is an original one. What do you think?
My older ORIGINAL ERSATZTEILE sign.
Makers mark EMAILLIERWERK HANNOVER MELLENDORF
My younger ORIGINAL ERSATZTEILE sign.
I guess this was made in the early 60s. It has some reflective coating,
which makes it glowing in the dark when light shines on it. Very nice effect!
No makers mark, but the number 174 701 on the backside. |

Hi there !
I recently scored the Otto Martin sign, which matches perfectly to my VW Dienst sign.
Does anyone have more information about this former VW dealership in Celle Germany ? What I have found out that it was existing there from approx 1947 to mid 70s. but thats all for the moment.
Thanks, Ralph

How about some vintage photos with porcelain VW signs visible:
Any have others? It would be cool to see some of the rarer signs (Cremora) in period photos _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

I've seen that style of sign before but its always had rounded corners with the matching rounded white outline:
Is there a makers mark on the sign anywhere? Is it flat or does it have a side edge to it? _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

It is a flat sign about 16x21 and I haven't seen any markings on it anywhere but it is heavy not like the repops that are very light and seems to have the right collars in the mounting holes |

It could be real, just hard to say without a makers mark or some history of the sign being seen before. Maybe its a dealer one-off they had made. What's the back look like?
Here's another original:
This one is 30x25 inches which seems to be a common size for many dealer signs. Your's seems to be much smaller which is different as well. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |
