I was talking to some of the vendors, man Ebay is killing them.
I picked up a set of 74 original bumpers for $50 and an original mirror for $5. I will have the bumpers rechromed when I need them and the mirror I am just changing the glass. THe after market bumpers are half the weight and after one rain the TRIPLE CHROME PLATING RUSTED!!!!!
I bought the bumpers from a 12 year old kid that fought me to the end, he wanted $75 to start. I gave him a free copy of my manual, we may see him on Samba in a few years. _________________ email: [email protected]

"to the Hutch"
684 to the Hutch was fine until Pelham, then heavy traffic...got off and cut across to New Rochelle and 95S and made good time over the bridge to LI...

I racked the Mexican landscaper look (long sleeve white buttoned down shirt and straw hat) and I'm nice and comfortable tonight. |

When I read that I wondered myself if he meant the weather or Glenn. I've met Glenn at CTS and no offense but..... _________________ 58 Coral Red ragtop(Diana's car)

Hey....
Seriously, I really like when people come over and say hello. That way I can put a face and real name to a Samba user id. _________________ Glenn

We went south to the ferry, even after you guys all called over "no room till 8" we got right online, watched the boat pull in and dock, waited on standby for about 20 minutes, and then wound up on the 330, which didnt leave untill 345. If you had come with us, you too would have gotten on the boat. _________________ Mike

what can you do? even with a 4:30 boat, that would have put me into the east to west summer sunday traffic for the drive back to LB...as it turned out, I made it back to LI with only one spot of traffic and was home by 5:30 after a 45 minute stop in New Rochelle and at the beach with the van by 6:30 for sunset...next time the ferry! |

Hey I crashed that photo.... almost literally too!
Took me 3.5 hours to get to the show and 3.5 hours to get home and it was HOT everywhere in between. Excellent show despite the heat and it was nice to see familiar faces again! Caravanned home with a few locals and bumped into some other VW heading home too. Had about a 10 car caravan at once point... then we hit the highway and it all fell apart and I lost the rest of the party. O'Well... See everyone at TransporterFest!! _________________ '73 Transporter 1.7L Dual Carb

I met Glenn this weekend too, he was a pretty decent guy! I camped right by you too Manny. I didn't introduce myself though. I was camping in the corner with Turbo Punk Tim from Volksrods.com. We were over by the CVA guys. I met them too. pretty cool, down to earth kinda guys. Tim from 401 Restos was right by us too. I know him, he's a local guy to me. I met some other Samba guy too, I forget his name, but, he said he was friends with the guy from Tijuana Customs, & then, as I was talking to him, The Tijuanan guy pulled into the camping area with his little Empi Imp & donuts. That was a pretty sweet ride! He wasn't interested in talkin to me though, I think he was on a mission... _________________ ~X-Man~

Nuts that I missed the group shot; I was still around (wore a red shirt with my Lederhosen...)
brownja, glad to have met you; I wanted to gab some more but did not see you the rest of the day. Did you have a good time, and learn some things about Ghias? Nice solid car you have!
Shano, you have the '63 with the split rear window, right? such a nice car... I came thru D'bury on I-84 EB at about 8:15am...
Next stop will be the Flanders meet in NJ mid-Sept.? For those of you in the western half of CT, it's an easy drive and a wonderful location. Highly recommend it if it is a sunny day. |

Likewise.
Learned a lot. Now I want a bus too!
I think you made my son a little nervous. Something about middle-aged men in leather pants
