I can't find anything other than 5.5 or "H" beam in Chevy.Anyone have a source?I want minimum clearance required.Maybe i will have to use "H" beams.Let me know what you guys think is best.It's for a stroker bus engine build. _________________ '57 oval window deluxe,Agave green(L240) 2276cc w/51.5 IDA's

Well i wanted to do minimum clearance to the case and cam. 82mm stroke. I am thinking if i run chevy journals, because they are smaller, than 5.5 rod ratio should be fine. I am worried that if i run 82mm stroke with VW journals,i might run into clearance issues with the cam and rods. I also for budget reasons was thinking of running "I" beams instead of "H" beams. _________________ '57 oval window deluxe,Agave green(L240) 2276cc w/51.5 IDA's

With an 82 stroke I'd run 5.4 I beams unless you expect to really rev it, then H beams would be better. Are you doing the clearancing or a machine shop? Many VW shops have a tool set up that automatically clears the case up to 84 or 86 stroke. With that an 82 with I beams should drop right in. I think you may be splitting hairs with respect to clearance with Chevy vs VW journals though. Maybe someone else can comment if there's really that much gained going with Chevy journals. |
