Tubbed?
As in bathtub?
Or do you mean tubed, as in tubular?

Either way, what are you getting at?

KCW tubbed that notch pretty hardcore, I'd look at what they did since the structure is almost the same in those areas.

the one kcw did is intense there was a ton of work done the whole floor and trunk were removed and it was a notch so there was no issue on reshaping the wheel arches on the out side of the car. on a fasty or a square it would be much harder.

I took these pics at the 2007 Classic out in front of the Crown Plaza hotel. It has (this is an estimate as I'm going off memory) a nine inch trans raise and is narrowed something like eight inches. It is extreme, but it can be done. You can find the entire build on KCWs site.

I talked to a local guy about it and he said you would have to use an early straight axel to narrow. Is this true or is it possible to maintain the IRS rear? Also, what would be a safe horsepower to be running to turn such an amount of rubber? Thanks

Is there any pics of the actual tub work? I have seen the one above like 1500 pics but that's a notch not a fasty. I have started to tube the. Easy stuff but would like to see a few pics if possiable on others ideas. I am building a ratrod type car. I am just looking for the posiative input.

never herd this term used for narrowing.

Commonly I've known tubbed as in wide ass wheel with massive negative offset, giving the wheels a very deep "tub" or dish.

There was a silver Porsche engined fastback a while back. Awesome tinware work inside the bay. Perhaps someone knows the one I was talking about.

tubbed is actually referring to on a muscle car, widening the wheels housings or "tubs"

I think you should also look under pro street look. My question is rear engine vw type trans? Remember that there is only so much room in there to put a transaxle & axle shafts. Swing axle will be a little easier. Front engine, north american cay type rear end. There are some people putting V8's in there vw's check there as well.

I appreciate this for the work that's involved, but,. . .

Am I the only one here that thinks the rear wheels look absolutely silly sticking that far in from the fender lips?? Rolling Eyes Afraid of rubbage so we'll keep them 2" off the fender??. . . Laughing Severely narrowed front-ends look equally foolish to me, but I do understand that they need to be that way to turn the wheels and be somewhat drivable on a slammed car. . . Cool

go to 11th hour industries & see the square that they tubbed out. I think it might show you how much work will be involved. There is also a guy doing a Brasilia that has some nice looking metal work going on.

Not immediately obvious cause there's no driveshafts installed but check out where the rear hub is positioned. It's above the diagonal trailing arm centerline and clearly positioned more inward. The gearbox must be moved forward too.
Everywhere you look in that engine bay there's mountains of work. Certainly not for the fainthearted.
