From the VintageBus list
Jon Stanton here, from the Arizona Bus Club out of Phoenix. Just wanted to
pass along some really sad news: Uncle Jerry passed away around 2:30 this
afternoon (Sunday). Most of you know he has been pretty close to it for some
time now. Melissa, his Magoo, is in a bit of a state of shock at the moment,
and I'm sure could really use the VW community's support and prayers. Thee
really isn't a whole lot else I can say right now other than life goes on and
we really need to live it the best we can. I'm sure more info will be coming
in the next few days, but that's all I got for now.

I Never met the man, but have read about him and knew who he was. He has been a major asset to the VW Community. I'm sure he will be sorely Missed. My prayers go out to his family and friends!!!

I stopped in at their place 10 years ago and bought a bunch of VW toys and some videos of California VW shows (before youtube was around). I came totally unannounced but that didn't stop either Jerry or Melissa from being very friendly and hospitable. My thoughts go out to Melissa and their family.
This is a sad day in the VW world. _________________ 1968 porsche

Aw man, that sucks. I had the pleasure of meeting them both a few times over the years and can't say enough nice things about them. My heart goes out to Melissa and all their family. Jerry will be sorely missed. _________________ 9th Owner of a 1971 Tintop Westy

Was always the height of my year to share the stage with the man. I always wanted to be able to share in his enthusiasm for performing in Jerome. I took the opportunity and never looked back. I will miss him, he was my friend.

I just heard the news of Jerrys passing. Uncle Jerry will be missed by many. We all love Him so much. I want to give my condolences to Jerrys beloved Magoo, Melissa Jess.
I first met Jerry at my first Jerome in 1997. He was quick to introduce Melissa as his "only other love besides Volkswagens"! Every year since then we talked for a bit hear and there, and one year when I needed a part (dont remember what it was) He invited me to their home and gave me the part for free!
Jerry is one of the best guys I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Jerome will never be the same.....

A lot of great people passing this week, my thoughts go out to his wonderful wife and family. I am sorry for your loss and the loss of a great man, I had met him many times and he always acted like you were his oldest and best friend. _________________ I own a copy of "The Car of the Century" by Garwood. I don't even know what to say. Jerry and Melissa have been dear friends of ours for years. The wife, daughter and I are devastated. He was our friend and we will never forget him. The community not only lost an icon, we've lost a friend. _________________ If you argue with an idiot for more than 5 minutes, who's the real idiot?
