|
|
I swapped out the rusty bolt on the center of the roof rack for a stainless one. It is the one that is under the lock cylinder, and it adjusts the tension to secure the rack to the roof rails. The cost for each bolt was $1.70. Seems like something the manufacturer could have done.

Hey man with all due respect of your georgeous RHD oval, I think your bullets are backwards? Something is funky.
***EDIT*** scroll up and compare it with that prairie beige one. They aren't backwards, but maybe just installed in the wrong position. I'd spin your driver one clockwise and your passenger one counter clockwise, know what I mean? _________________ Shadetree Westy

Finally the pan came from Acid dipping, sand blasting and powder coating. I additionally, seam sealed all the edges with Black seam seal and Rubberized the bottom side.

Installed tubes in the rear radials --front tires were done before
checked the transaxle oil level and added some
took it for a drive and promptly lost a hubcap
The transaxle is sure noisy
either rebuild it or add bananas

Rebuilt a leaky wheel cylinder. Man I don't need to let this thing set for 4 years again.

My Bug has been marooned in the garage this spring as the battery was loaned out to my Son for an around-the-lower-48 fling in his Variant. It's such a nice feeling to finally get it out on the road today in perfect Seattle sunny weather. The 36hp reliably sprung to life and gave me a good adventure around town. If only I could find a way to put a 36hp in my Vanagon, or perhaps two of them... |
