They seem to know this info inside and out Rolling Eyes

Let's face this: it is also true that engine life may be reduced by as much as 99.9999%.

The engine was bought through Chirco, not direct form GEX. I imagine its one of the family that worked there, or the A. is for aircooled or something.

So Chirco is selling GEX engines??
I wonder how many other shops are selling them?

It has been at least 10 years since we have sold a GEX engine here at Chirco in Tucson or online at Chirco.com.

We ran across the same issues as others.
In no way do we want to be associated with GEX.

All of our engines are built in house at our Tucson location.

The tag could have been one from us,
but it would have been prior to this millennium.

I never saw this follow up post. Like mentioned from Wiggins above, this engine was purchased from Chirco eons ago, and not by me. I just inherited it from a PO. Smile

The photo shows a water cooled VW motor too!
The sight of it raised the hair on the back of my neck.
I had a buddy with a Scirocco with 329,000 miles on the original engine.
A piston ring failed, and the guy wanted to keep the car.
I set up the guy with a very good shop to do the rebuild,
but the guy's mechanic said he could get a motor for $850 and the guy was gone.
3 rebuilds later, and his mechanic gave up.
The guy reappeared and I hooked him up with Techtonics Tuning for a nice ABA swap.
The guy wasted nearly $5K due to trying to save the $1200 difference between a GEX and a real quality rebuild.
A painful lesson that that my buddy got from GEX.
