Glenn's right. If I didn't have a good vise, it may have been a real pain to drive that pin out. _________________ jlex.

I just bought the accelerator pedal upgrade and the extended clutch shaft setup from Unique parts. Really quick response, parts look nice, will be interested to see how the whole thing works when done. I think that the new clutch shaft makes it a bit easier to hook up the clutch cable as well if I understood right. _________________ My 1973 Standard Beetle Build SOLD

Yes, the way they attach the clutch cable to the pedal cluster makes it easier to install back into the tunnel.
I installed the bigfoot clutch pedal and accelerator kit a couple weeks ago. Very nice setup. had to get used to the new location of the clutch pedal and the pedal effort seems to be increased a little, (not sure what that's about), but the upgrade was well worth it.
BeejCyr, you're going to need to replace that part with an OEM one for the unique parts kit to work (if you decide to go that route). Check the classifieds here. Not sure you can just buy that piece new, but you can buy the whole pedal assembly from one of the vendors for about a hundred bucks. |

Usually I do my own - have never rebushed one, but just take them all apart, clean paint and grease. Sometimes they need a light sanding on the clutch arm shaft. They usually come out pretty well. But I need to get a couple more "cores" since the 2 that I have are pretty much junk. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

It's supposed to have a two-piece arm that has a rubber stop on it, so your pedal stops on a soft spot before hitting the firewall.

Following the thread because I'm putting a new pedal assembly in while stuck inside during the storm.
But I might have a mismatched pedal assembly and pedal combination. Both from Jbugs. But the pedal doesn't fit the slot. And the new pedal assembly has a bar (silver section) that seems to stop the motion of the accelerator pedal at some point. The old one didn't have this.
Happy to be wrong. I can trim. And make it fit. Anyone see a the problem? Thanks. Tom (from under the sun drifts). Oh, I have a 73SB.

I see this is an old thread:
Two questions, when did VW add the grease fitting to the aluminum casting? (thinking about adding to my pedal asm. - '74 SB)
What is the size of the circlip that holds the brake pedal on the casting?
Thanks! |
