Single port with empi end castings to allow the use of the 34pict3. Now I have problems with oil bath filter rubbing the fan shroud. The manifold doesn't sit level.

What's that contraption to the left of the distributor?

So wait, is the center section EMPI as well? Are the end castings pulling the manifold forward?

Sweet oil filter

Yes, it's crap empi end castings Mad . The center section is good Oem VW. I opened up the slot on the center intake manifold in hopes to allow the flange to sit level, that helped. I think the cheap empi castings simply don't match the center section. I had to slightly bend the heat risers to match the exhaust also. The contraption to the left of the distributor is a canton meca oil filter.

Interesting. I wonder now if SP manifolds sit closer to the shroud than DP ones? Or if it's just the SP end castings that are too far forward. Do you have a real SP manifold to compare it to?

Well, my next thought was to revert back to an original sp manifold and use a 30pict3. I think I'll try the paper filter housing next. I used the sp heads because I couldn't find a decent pair of dp. The 1600 runs really good with these sp heads and the 34pict3!

Just got mine put back into the Beetle. I am going to get a 356 Knecht air filter until I get dual single port carbs.

I need to fix the seal, any suggestions?

This is what I started with 3 years ago

RE: Me

A single port manifold will be too far forward to use a 34pict3. But stock sp end castings will line up with a dp center section just fine. Just have to make custom boots.

Finally finished my 2007cc.
