Actually, if you're holding cans of soda, this seems to work rather well. I know the pocket on my door holds the can very tightly, causing it to crush slightly and stay in place. _________________ I can haz beetle?

Go old school and learn how to juggle hot coffee while shifting and steering. Up the challenge by also incorporating braking and using the turn signal all while holding that same cup of coffee.

I need the cup holder to hold my drink while I'm shaving and texting on the way to work...I'm good, but I'm not that good

I use an older version (without the cell phone holder) and put it on the passenger floor with the Club on the long part to keep it steady while I drive. When I don't use it I scootch it under the passenger seat. Works great, even if not exactly the way it was intended. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

Fits over the tunnel, works pretty well and has a small area for other stuff. |
I have one and it sucks.
It gets in the way of your right leg and keeps tipping to the side.
I spend more time looking at it to make sure it’s straight, then I do looking at the road. |
Damn that's too bad, ours works well, real snug, doesn't move hardly at all. Oh well Maybe it's all that thick-ass insulation I put on the tunnel under the carpet, made it so wide it fits real tight??? _________________ Tired Arms...Achy Knees...Greasy, Bloody Knuckles

That's what I've always done.
Holds them perfect and instantly adjusts to any size. _________________ Scott

Agreed. Worthless, and the more weight you put into it the more unstable it gets. |

I have one in my fastback, and you are right, my leg is against it all the time.
Get irritating after about 1000 miles.
On my Fox, I just took the ash tray out of the console, and set any cups/cans/bottles in the open hole. It even has a light at night. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

That only works if the elastic isn't stretched out. My undies have the same problem. |

I believe this same attitude explains why VW resisted cup holders for years after almost all other makes adopted them. Not too many VWs go 180mph, though.
"Crazy US drivers" they would say. They are right on that point, of course, but if you want to sell cars, give the customers what they want... |

There are a "few" VW's that will do 180 mph. They just may not have the VW badge on them. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey
