Just managed to fit my Express engine in my 51. Had lots of trouble and spent lots of time getting it roadworthy so I missed Hessisch..

Still I am in need of correct black spark plug wires, a good cleaning and a Knecht cyclone filter, but thats details.

Anyway - where can I get in contact with a good supplier of Solex jets?

Looking forward to check it out at SCC!
Is it running good?

When I had my Express on the dyno, the dyno guy had some very very small drills so that he could small jets bigger. It was that he made my main air jets the correct size.

By the way I´ve send you a pm

I tested the engine today, and it will need some adjustments before everything is ok. I tried to adjust the emulsion pin several times with out any luck. I also discovered that the Express manual i've got is missing a page.
Since the engine is an almost 100% original 36hp, i was hoping that the original "recipe" in the Express manual could help me. Anyone?
The one I've got is also in swedish so I have some problems understanding everyting without a drawing.

Sparkplugs are very black, and it seems like the engine is capable of more if i change the jets, venturies or emulsion tube holder. The emulsion tube holder should have reservoar 5,5, it was originally 5,0.

PeterPlade: Have you changed your venturies, emulsion tubes, or emulsion tube holders? Or have you only changed the jets in your carbs????

Hi I have the same manual as you and I can send you scan of it, I´m pretty sure that I have all the pages in my, but it´s also swedish. Read it 10 times in a row and you understand most of it, that was what I did Smile

I only changed the jets, but with the setup from the papers it ran way to rich and was almost drowning sometimes.
I´m running a 100 main jet and a 180 main air jet maybe that can help you?

I haven´t tried with other venturis.

Hi guys, I think you got the manual from me, if something is missing I can send you a new one.
In my express i have: 5,5 emulsion holder
23 mm venturi
175 main air jet
125 main jet

I also have a reground cam ( 7,6mm lift, no other data on it) and a litle more compression. It pumps out 41hp

Hi again
Yes did get manual from you Bengt at some years back.

I do also run with the 5,5 emulision holder.
But I think it´s funny that our main jets are so far apart, not that it matters since both our cars is run in on a dyno they both get the fuel/air mixture they should.

Great information guys Very Happy

Tommorrow I'll recieve different Solex jets. After that I have to get it dynoed as you guys have done.

Maybe the different jetting is caused by using different distributors?

Bengts engine is maybe the closest to mine - i have flycut my heads 1,2mm and I am also using BRS 383 distributor.

My heads was cut 2mm´s if I remember correctly, anyway it was meassured so that compression ratio was set to 8-1.
And as you know I have the 010 distributor, and mr okrasa cam in mine.

Good luck on the dyno!

I've figured out everything in the manual, but one thing: What is actually a Emulsionsrör (or hovudspreder) in Swedish? Embarassed

I see the emulsion holder should be 5,5, but what is emulsionrör?? Is it venturies? In your manual it says it the hovudspreder/emulsionrör should be set to 0(zero).

Any updates from anyone on this and jet sizes etc? Just got my heads back; skimmed 2mm (going to check their cc tomorrow) and now with 33mm intake valves. Standard cam.

Should I start with the jets etc recommended by Express?

Thanks
Richard

Many thanks...anyone built an engine a similar spec to mine? It'll be about 7.5:1 with 33mm intakes.

Thanks
Richard
