Trying to find the AutoStick dash decal for my 71 Ghia. Any leads out there? Just replaced top dash pad and vinyl face, but existing sticker was not transferable. .....and yes did a search - 48 threads came up but no live links or leads and also checked out the VW Automatic Registry site. Hoping someone here has them or knows where replicas can be purchased.
As always, thanks guys for all the help! _________________ David W - from Chesterfield, VA / Jefferson SD / Stephens City, VA in that order.

I've also been looking for the sticker, but haven't had any luck locating a source.
If you find a source please post it.
Thanks

Hiya ddwb,
There have been forum members over at VWAR who have replicated the KG sticker at times. You might be able to establish contact with them in order to see if they might have any left. Basically, all of them started with this art...........
I'm guessing that it would not be too difficult to reproduce a sticker yourself using this art.
InSa........ finding a shift diagram with a Park position will be a bit harder but these also have been done. We had one member in Australia who turned these out and was selling them on eBay a couple of years ago. _________________ Mike

I'm a professional graphic artist, and I'd be happy to re-create this. Would take me all of about 10 minutes to create a Vector file. What does the final output need to be? Black on white? The ones I've seen on some Ghia dashes is white on what looks like clear. Oh, yeah, need a size, too...
Email: [email protected].
EDIT: Already created it. Email me if you want a copy. You'll have to take it to a place like Kinko's, or some place that does one-off decals. Still need to set up the correct size/colors, but that's easy... |

Ok, EDIT #2. I just looked at an ebay auction for a 72 Autostick, and the diagram appears to be different than the one posted above. Can any of you Autostick junkies take a pic of your dash diagram and either send it to me, or post it here?
I swear, this really isn't that hard for me to crank out, I just want to get it right! I would want it right if it were my car...
Once this is done, you can all return the favor by helping me track down an original 72-74 FATCHICK Ghia... I'm on the hunt... |

Here are pictures of the autostick sticker in my wife's 69 Ghia. You can see the approximate size of the sticker in the 2nd and 3rd pictures.
I think this is the origial sticker. I recently refurished the dash and was able to transfer the sticker to the new dash from what I believe was the original dash.

Dont know if this is of any use to you, its a bit unclear but here goes
I had someone copy my original one what they did was create a sticker with the black strips and put them onto
a transparent backing, then when the sticker was applied and the backing removed the lines are left in situ on the dash.
The dimensions ofthe lines are: central horizontal line = 17mm long
RHS diaganol line (between 1 & 2) = 20mm long
LHS diaganol lines (for R & L) = 10mm long each
Hope this makes sense, I wish I could remember the guys name who did mine but it was a while ago, good luck with it.

Ok boys (and girls)... Tell me how this looks. I know this covers Ghia, and I'm happy to do one for a Beetle too. Thanks to legacy for posting the pics.
I'm showing this here as black on white, because the actual art of white on clear wouldn't show up in the forum. The actual art is white with no (clear) background.
According to the above pics, the final size should be approx. 1 7/8" x 1 1/8"
Anybody want a copy??

Hiya Michael,
Hah! Looks like the the artwork I posted above is fine for Bugs but the KG diagram is reverse slanted as in the two pictures posted above. Sorry if I caused any confusion in the artistic process of recreation.
I'd sure like a copy also! _________________ Mike

Speaking of shift pattern decals or stickers... is this the sticker that would have come on my 1970, 4-speed Ghia? http://www.bughaus.com/sticker-.htm
And where exactly would it have been located on the dash? Thanks. _________________ Firemarshal Bill

Try this gents:
http://download.yousendit.com/MnFpb3BONmNiR0pFQlE9PQ
This link should prompt you to a page with a downloadable file.
A couple things:
1.) This is an EPS file. In graphic artist terms, it is Vector-based art, which can be opened with a program like Adobe Illustrator. Any decal shop worth a dang will be able to work with an EPS file such as this. I know FedEx/Kinkos used to print one-off decals. The next step obviously will be finding a printer that can print this file on clear vinyl.
2.) If you do try to open this file yourself, or when the place you take it to opens it, I saved it in Preview Mode. In other words, when you open it, you will see black outlines, like this:
I did this, because the art is white with no background. This way you (or the printer) can see what they're dealing with. The size/instructions at the bottom will not print. It is only there to inform whoever is doing the printing what the final output should be. Which leads me to:
3.) I know I've probably overloaded you all with too much info here, but this is what I do for a living, and I'm a perfectionist when it comes to this stuff. If you look at some of the other links posted, other places are creating repro decals, and they don't even take the time to get the font correct, etc. I made dang sure the one I created was as close as I could possibly produce given the pics posted here.
Sorry for the long post. I hope this helps some of you out. PLEASE update this post if anyone has success getting one of these printed. If I can help in any other way, lemme know.
And I'll repeat, keep yer eyes out for an all original 72-74 hardtop Ghia for me...
Cheers,
Michael |

Guys you're great. That will be a huge help. Haven't taken it to a print shop yet, but you've done the hard work for me. Thanks again _________________ David W - from Chesterfield, VA / Jefferson SD / Stephens City, VA in that order.

I made my own on a inkjet printer using clear decal paper. Once you print the graphic on the paper you spray it with an acrylic clear. When it dries you cut out the rectangle, soak it in water and apply like a decal on a model.
I did my air cleaner decal the same way _________________ www.lyonsperformance.com |

Here is my approach... no clear decal just the white artwork laid down in a sticker.
