I was thinking about this one the other day. Definitely of the cooler bus stories. Does anyone know how this one progressed in the end?

And how would it fare at Barrett-Jackson as is.

Hi
Long time, no action Very Happy
I still own the car, and my plans have not changed, the car will be restored, but things take time. I have to finisch a 62 bug for my sister first, and with 4 kids in the most active age, the samba has a low priority at the moment.
First step of restauration will be to get it leagally running with licence plates, with as little body repair as possible to keep as much of the "patina" as it is. After some years of "loosing the rest of the interesting patina", it will be fully restored to its prior glory.
As soon as I start with the car, I will start posting pictures. But, unfortunately, I expect it to still be a year or two.

I saw this former car today, at SCC. It is more special like it is, than restored. You have never seen a samba like this. Good story, too.
But it will cost blood to get it nice. Nearly like build a new car. Confused

And it is a real fish at the steering wheel...

Until the 70' , it was common in scandinavia to drive old cars out on icy lakes, and when the ice broke in the spring, the car was gone.

Laughing get your diving license and head over to Norway, must be way better than diving between the tropical coral reefs, with all those old VW's in lakes over there!!!! Laughing

Not to detract from the "bug's" entertaining archaeological value, it would appear that it's actually a squashed bug, fittingly in a cemetery for a reason. The novelty of the Samba Submarine is that it apparently adapted, grew gills, and survived. Shocked
