You just posted a simple statement. Try following it with a question so that we can try to help you with "missing seat belt" problem. Sound good? Laughing

I lived with stock belts in my '71 bus for years and years. I only wish I had done the retractable seat belt mod. Since selling my bus I have done the mod to several buses belonging to my customers. I hope you've considered them for yourself.

while we are on the subject....
i have no bulkheads behind the front seats in my 77 and i want to install retractable belts. there is a small trianglular gusset going from the B post to the seat/wheel tub. would this be strong enough to bolt the belt reel onto?
or to i need to get som brackets made to make it stronger?

Bus Depot.

http://www.busdepot.com/details.jsp?partnumber=111707BK

I'm gonna get some. I have the ol' swing-it-up-onto-the-seat-before-closing-the-door down second nature, but most passengers don't.

Go to eBay and do a search for retractable belt. You'll find several available in different colors and qualities. I don't recommend the really cheap ones but the mid range are fine and work well in the bay wndow buses. No more having your belt bang on the side of the bus when you get out.

Yep! And then you're driving down the freeway cursing up a storm because it's beating the shit out of the side of your Bus! Evil or Very Mad

$85 each seems a little pricey, but I now know that this is a possibility. And I guess I could sell my old ones on here to recoup some of the cost. Hmm!

I ordered these and got them installed. If I have time today I will take some pics. I used all stock locations. The only thing I have to modify was buying some angle iron from LOWE'S to make it upright. Best thing I ever did to my bus, well that and front and rear sway bars. Laughing

I paid 90 bucks shipped in 3 days for both sides.

If you have the seat belt hooks in place, you don't have to do that trick. I was going to do the retracting seat belt upgrade. But since installing new hooks, and getting used to using them, I'm not so sure I need/want to change. Peace!

Are you referring to those high quality, tough plastic clips that always break when your new passenger gets in and just yanks down on the belt?

Hmmmnnnn.....plenty of Jetta's in the boneyards. I'd guess $10~20 for a pair?

You know something... my time is valuable to me and the junk yards are about 20 miles away. I'd rather order brand new belts and have them delivered to my door than roam endlessly through a junk yard only to find that the one jetta there already had the belts stripped from it.

Then call me lucky....cuz I got nothing better to do than drive around America, and look at stuff....

Normally you can call these boneyards up and they have computers that tell them what is in their yard....But I do prefer the "drive by", "pick-a-part", suprise yards...

Piss off Hoser....

Man

Must be nice to be in a position to say stuff like that...totally worth paying $20-$40 rather than $80 for a trip into town if you ask me.
